YSC SKATER SHAYLEIGH DOUCET RECEIVED +2 GOE ON HER COMBINATION SPIN AT 2015 STARSKATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Shayleigh Doucet received +2 GOE's (Grade of Executions) from all judges on her opening combination spin at the 2015 Starskate Championships held in Liverpool on Feb 28th and Mar 1st.
Shayleigh was one of only 2 skaters to receive +2 GOE's at the Provincial Championships!!

YSC HAS 5 SKATERS WHO ARE INVITED TO THE SKATE NS GALA AND AWARDS SHOW AT COLE HARBOUR PLACE MAY 2ND

YSC has 5 Skaters who are invited to the Skate NS Gala and Awards Show which will be held on May 2nd at Cole Harbour Place.
Shayleigh Doucet, Sharlie Pinksen and Kylie Landry are invited as part of Team NS for the Atlantic Canada Skating Championships
Shayleigh Doucet is invited as part of the +2 GOE Hall of Fame for her combination spin from the Starskate Championships in Liverpool on Feb 28th and March 1st
Maddy Land is invited as YSC Canskater of the Year
Austin Thibeau is invited as YSC Starskater of the Year
Kylie Landry is invited as Canskate Program Assistant of the Year.

YSC SKATERS EXCEL AT ATLANTIC CANADA SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Yarmouth Skating Club had 3 skaters qualify for the Atlantic Canada Skating Championships
Shayleigh Doucet lead the way winning a bronze medal in the Pre-Juvenile Ladies under 11 category
Kylie Landry placed 8th in the Gold Ladies event
and Sharlie Pinksen placed 16th in the STAR 5 Ladies under 13 event
Way to go!!

3 of our Canskaters have been chosen as CBC Young Athletes of the Day!!Congratulations to Narissa, Camden and Luke!
We have been contacted by CBC to let us know that 3 of our Canskaters have been chosen for the Young Athlete of the Day segment on CBC News Nova Scotia at 5.
The skaters chosen are :
Narissa Muise
She will be featured on Monday Jan 5th
Luke Burns
He will be featured on Wednesday Jan 7th
And Camden Hurlburt
He will be featured on Friday Jan 9th

A big Thank You to the Recreation Departments and their Staff for putting on the YCAA year after year! It is truly amazing to see all the athletes and hear of their accomplishments! We are truly lucky to live in an area that celebrates our athletes, coaches and volunteers in this way! We have heard from our Coaches who live outside of Yarmouth and they said their communties do not hold an event like this in their areas. So again we can't thank you enough for all the hardwork that is put in to organize and hold this event!

December 18th CBC Young Athlete of the Day Allison Theriault
We have been contacted by the CBC and on Thursday Dec 18th Allison Theriault will be the featured CBC Young Athlete of the Day on the CBC news.
After the feature airs on December 18th Allison's CBC Young Athlete of the Day card can be seen on the CBC New Facebook page.
Of course Allison's family will have to PVR this as we will all be at the Arena watching Allison in the Yarmouth Skating Club's Christmas Show

SHAYLEIGH AND KYLIE PASS SKATE CANADA TESTS

Shayleigh and Kylie pass multiple tests at Liverpool Test Day on Dec 7th
Congratulations to Shayleigh Doucet and Kylie Landry for passing tests at the Dec 7th Test Day held in Liverpool.
Shayleigh passed her Willow Waltz, Junior Bronze Freeskate Elements and Junior Bronze Freeskate Program
Kylie passed her Bronze Interpretive Test, her Senior Silver Freeskate Program and her Gold Freeskate Elements
Congratulations on your accomplishments Shay and Ky!!
And a BIG thank you to Diane, Cheryl, Heidi and all for organizing and running the test day and keeping our skaters on track.
And to the Rozanne Raine for volunteering her time and giving up her Sunday to assess so many tests! There were 48 tests tried and the test day went from 1230pm-6pm!
